For every reader
Accessibility statement
A library is only premium if everyone can walk in. This page explains what we have built for readers who use keyboards, screen readers or reduced motion, and where the work continues.

Our commitment
Zokario aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, across the whole site in English, Arabic and French. Accessibility checks are part of every release, not an afterthought.
What is built in
- A skip to content link at the top of every page, and consistent landmarks: header, navigation, main and footer.
- Full keyboard access: menus, search, dialogs and the reading room all work without a mouse, with a visible gold focus ring and no keyboard traps.
- Color contrast checked against the 4.5:1 standard for text on both the dark and the ivory paper sections.
- Forms with visible labels, and errors that are announced to screen readers and tied to the field that needs attention.
- Respect for reduced motion: ambient videos stay on a still frame and animations are switched off when your system asks for calm.
- Right-to-left Arabic with mirrored layout and icons, and typography tuned for each language.
- The online reader offers adjustable text size and sepia, light and dark themes.
- Touch targets sized for fingers, not just cursors, on phones and tablets.
Known limitations
We are honest about what is not finished:
- Downloaded PDF editions are not yet fully tagged for screen readers. The online reader is the accessible way to read every title.
- The ambient videos are decorative and silent, so they carry no captions; the same information is always in the page text.
- Some community features, such as the live fireplace chat, are young and still receiving assistive-technology polish.
Compatibility
The site is built with semantic HTML and tested in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, at zoom levels up to 200 percent, in portrait and landscape.
